How to obtain a natural-looking dentin during layering

The inner structure of many natural teeth can vary considerably (Fig.1) Photo Mr Claudio Chiarulli, Italy. In some cases, where the dentin layer is very irregular, we use a brush we devised in our lab. This brush has rather stiff bristles and of varying lengths (Fig.2). During the layering of the buccal dentin we use this brush to create irregularities (Figs.3 and 4). To fix these irregularities, we dry them slightly with a hot air blower and harden them spraying the lacquer  Ubassys Build up Fixative  (Figs.5 and 6).
Once the layering is fixed, we can place translucent mass on the top of the incisal edge without altering the shape of all the details created with the stiff brush (Figs.7 and 8). To complete the layering, we place absorption mass in the depressions and finish layering the incisal mass on the buccal surface (Fig.9). In reflected light, the irregular dentin layer hardly shows in the finished tooth (Fig.10). In transmitted light, one can still see the fine and thin dentin cones made with the stiff brush, which we fixed with the spray  Ubassys Build up Fixative  (Figs.11 and 12)
